Six Gates builds governed AI systems for high-assurance work: technology that allows teams of AI agents to act autonomously and continuously in environments where an action no one can account for is not an acceptable outcome.

The question is not simply whether a model can do the work. It is whether an organisation can allow capable systems to act at scale while retaining precise answers to three questions: What was permitted? What was proven? What actually happened?

Six Gates works with engineering organisations whose software has physical consequences: defence, aerospace, energy, industrial systems, and medical technology.

The founder

Dr Michael Scott

Dr Michael Scott is the founder and CEO of Six Gates. He is a computational scientist, entrepreneur, and educator whose work has followed a continuous line: from the mathematics used to predict physical behaviour, to software that carries those methods into engineering practice, to systems that govern AI acting on consequential work.

He earned his Ph.D. from the University of Texas at Austin and built his research career around the numerical methods used in engineering simulation—how a computer represents physical geometry accurately enough to predict how it will behave. Clarivate has recognised him as a Highly Cited Researcher, a distinction awarded to roughly one researcher in a thousand. His publications are collected on his Google Scholar profile.

In 2014, he co-founded Coreform from his research laboratory at Brigham Young University. He led the company from its founding through 2026, when he transferred day-to-day leadership to the management team he had built in order to work full time on governed AI. He remains a member of Coreform’s board and serves as its Chief AI Strategist.

Coreform develops simulation software that allows engineers to analyse designs directly from their CAD geometry. Its underlying mathematics began as university research and now runs in production at companies that build physical systems. The company grew on research funding rather than venture capital and has been named to the Inc. 5000 multiple times.

Scott was also a tenured engineering professor at Brigham Young University, where Coreform began. Teaching has remained a continuous part of his work. Six Gates’ two-day course extends that work: a direct account of the engineering practices developed while building and governing large fleets of AI agents.
